HOLLYWOOD HOT SHOTS
This successor to HOT SHOTS FROM HOLLYWOOD began issuing records in 1937, highest known number is 424. The first issues were re-releases of jukebox specials which had the same selection on both sides. The earlier numbers were recycled with new material on the flipside which will often show an NRD-prefixed control number in the runoff, for Novelty Records Distributors, 1016 N. Highland Ave., Hollywood, CA. Some unnumbered issues couple two versions of the same tune, one derived from RACY RECORDS. Other material is drawn from TORCHIES FROM HOLLYWOOD and WESTERN RECORDS BOURBANA labels. Yellow label with black print.

HOT SHOTS FROM HOLLYWOOD
"Presented by Novelty Record Co." 1481 West Washington Blvd., Los Angeles, CA. President J. C. McClelland advertized his new label in August of 1936, ad copy alluded to rapid expansion "within the last few months". This may allude to Novelty Record pressings with typed labels. Most of these early party releases had the same selection on both sides and were aimed at coin-operated applications, retail price was a hefty $1.00 each. Heavy hitters in the jukebox trade like David Rockola weighed in against the new offerings, fearing that their industry would become the next target of government censorship (along the lines of the Hayes Office) so the records were withdrawn to be replaced by HOLLYWOOD HOT SHOTS with different selections on each side so that they could not be specifically linked to jukebox operations. Matrix numbers predate 'L'-prefixed Duke Ellington matrices made at Associated Cinema Studios, Hollywood in December of 1936. RACY RECORDS also recorded there and issued similar jukebox records. Known range is L-0294 through L-0337, peach labels with gray printing.
HUMOR RECORDS
Located at 2060 First Ave., New York, NY., incorporated December 4, 1947, dissolved April 15, 1952. Early label is blue print on white, later is yellow label with dark blue print. Known issues are an unnumbered three-disc CREPITATION set and number 500.
