Eli Oberstein

Cliff EDWARDS
Born June 14, 1895 Hannibal, MO., died July 19, 1972. Known to most people as the voice of Jiminy Cricket, he was a jazz-influenced popular singer who recorded many sides under the name "Ukelele Ike" in the 1920's. Co-composer of "No Wonder She's a Blushing Bride." In 1936 he replaced Rudy Vallee in "George White's Scandals". He toured with Ben Light's Surf Club Boys in 1938.
-Cliff Edwards (Ukulele Ike) accomp. by own ukulele, violin, piano (prob. Ben Light), guitar and bass. Associated Cinema Studios, Hollywood, Oct. 1936. Each side was initially issued as a double-faced Hot Shots From Hollywood disc with the same matrix on both sides. Good-Humor and subsequent dubbed issues are anonymous.

Dave ELMAN
Dave Elman was born May 6, 1900 in Park River, North Dakota.. Longtime host of "Hobby Lobby" which debuted on CBS in October, 1937 with "The Best Things in Life are Free" as the show's theme. It continued with a few interruptions through 1949. Elman died on December 5, 1967.

Hope EMERSON
Born  October 29, 1897 in Howarden, IA. The 6-foot, 7-inch tall actress is best remembered for her portrayal of the jailor in Warner's "Caged." Played the character "Mother" on the Peter Gunn TV series. Died Apr. 24, 1960 in Hollywood.

Chick ENDOR & Charlie FARRELL
Co-composers of “Was I?” also recorded as “Forty Years a Chambermaid.” Endor was born in England. Appeared and recorded with The Yacht Club Boys 1926-1933. Died in the U.S. in 1941. Farrell recorded with Jim Miller in 1926 and broke into silent films as an extra with Mack Sennett. They provided much needed comic relief in the movie “Two Hearts in Harmony” (1935). They appeared at the Monseigneur in New York City in 1937 and were frequent summer replacements for Dwight Fiske at the Savoy Plaza.
