HOLLYWOOD HOT SHOTS
This successor to Hot Shots From Hollywood began issuing records in early 1937, highest known number is 424. It must be assumed that "The Girl from Atlantic City" [a.k.a. "She Swims like a duck"] was the most successful number of the whole party record enterprise as both the Hot Shots From Hollywood and Racy Records versions continued to be pressed by Hot Shots in their original jukebox format with the same matrix on both sides. All other releases were done in the conventional manner with two different tunes per disc. The first series was unnumbered and essentially reissued all the 1936 masters. A later series fell in the 400-436 range with additional material being drawn from Torchies From Hollywood and Western Records Bourbana labels. The earlier numbers were recycled with new material on the flipsides which will often show NRD-prefixed control numbers in the runouts, for Novelty Records Distributors, 1481 W. Washington Blvd. Los Angeles and later 1016 N. Highland Ave., Hollywood, CA. This continues the LO-prefixed series of Associated cinema Studios. Yellow label with black print.
Hot Shots became the nexus of a well-organized effort to supply risqué material to jukebox operators. It brought together masters from a seemingly diverse group of small West Coast labels which were ultimately tied together by motive, means and opportunity.
