Frances MADDUX       
Born Hollywood, CA 1908. Studied piano and played as a soloist with the L.A. Philharmonic as a teenager. Switched to popular music and by 1929 appeared at the Cafe de Paris in London. Returned to New York to sing and record with Leo Reisman's orchestra. To London in 1933 where she recorded for Columbia. Back in the U.S. she appeared at Le Bijou at the time her first LMS sides were recorded. She was in the cast of the comedy “There's Wisdom in Women” in the closing months of 1935. Moved to Le Mirage in 1936.
Her last engagement was at the Maisonette of the St. Regis Hotel in 1949. Died in Acapulco, Mexico Jan. 1, 1961.

Lola MAE
This may be the same person as one Lula Mae, a vocalist with a great pair of lungs who worked briefly in a revue featuring Noble Sissle's International Orchestra at the Lafayette Theatre in 1934.

Dean Martin (real name Dino Crocetti) born Steubenville, OH June 17, 1917.
-with Jerry Lewis (real name Joseph Levitch born March 16, 1926, Newark, NJ).

Johnny MESSNER
Born Oct. 13, 1909 saxophonist and society bandleader who recorded extensively for Victor, Bluebird and Decca.  In late 1940 he joined forces with Eli Oberstein to produce Top Hat Records. During WWII he contributed to Moe Asch's "Strictly G.I." album. He later wrote advertising jingles and in the 1950's he joined Vincent Lopez.
--and his Orch. Vocal by the Entire Ensemble (which may include composers Hughie Prince and Don Raye). The first title was recorded at the Muzak-Associated studios and probably represents the last real fun those engineers ever had. New York City ca. September, 1939. Kicks issue is anonymous.

Billy MITCHELL
A comedian who appeared on the bill with Earl Hines in 1934  and recorded for Bluebird in 1936 and appeared at the Apollo in June of 1945. Mitchell was in ill health when these recordings were made and died in the early 1950's.
